Music has been every moment of my life for longer than I can remember. ZZ Tops, Dana Dane’s song Nightmares, Beastie Boys, Ice T’s 6 in the morning and the power album, Micheal Jackson, Breathe, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, KRS, Bobby Brown, Special Ed, Run DMC, Rakim, and Guru. Music that was doing something new, something that has not been done before.
The successful artist of the Old School did not want their sound to return to the top of music and surface. The audience wanted something new. I understand this. The important thing to do is create and never try to retrace.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri until the age of fourteen, I was brought to the hood of South Central Los Angeles a few months before the Rodney King Riots. At the time, Ice Cube had it locked down and I wouldn’t turn my radio off.
I became involved in high school by free styling, busting, and taking respect. Shortly after graduating to the local hip hop clubs, open mic life, project blow, the good life, the dragons den etc., it became a part of me. A way to not only tell my story, but make music that inspired others to do the same.
